You've probably already received the notice for our Annual General Meeting and had a chance to vote for two Directors or flick through our 2018 Annual Report.
Even if numbers aren't your thing, there's lots of change happening in Private Health Insurance at the moment. It's a good time to point out that when you contact us with suggestions and feedback we listen and act.
The good thing about being small is that we remember too, and every member comment changes how we work for you in the future.
A solid chunk of our members have been with us a long time. Back from the days when we we're just a health fund for steelworkers for Lysaghts and BHP.
Things have changed a little since then, but we're still proudly not-for-profit and member-owned.
And we still love our original members.
One way to stay true to our beginning is to think; what a member would expect from us? We know members expect us to do the job in their best interests, especially while they're not watching.
Throw in a few good old-fashioned values: honesty, integrity, the expert knowledge of our health system and straight-forward service; and we have a stable, sustainable health fund you can be proud to be a member of, just like we're proud to work here.
What's the point of Peoplecare health cover?
The same as it was in 1952 when we started - to look after our members when they need it most.
It's no fun having to suffer poor health, after all.
Going to private hospital is eye-wateringly expensive, so health cover is useful to pay the kind of money for your hospital admission that ordinary Australians don't have handy.
Our top hospital claim for 2018 was $228,698. That's a heap of cash that could wipe your lifetime savings dry and could lead to a rocky future.
We have new products coming early next year, in line with the new government reforms, so keep a look out for fresh new cover options.
