Digital membership cards are a secure, mobile version of your physical card - allowing you to tap and claim on the go, directly from your personal device.

How to use your digital membership card

If you have an active Peoplecare Health Insurance card, you are eligible to access a digital membership card on your device.

How to add your digital membership card

  1. Open or download the latest version of the Peoplecare Health Insurance app on your iPhone*. Available from the App Store.
  2. Select the ‘Digital Card’ section within the main menu.
  3. Tap ‘Add to Apple Wallet’ and follow prompts.

Once added to your iPhone, the digital card in your Apple Wallet will automatically sync to your Apple Watch.

How to use your digital membership card

Step 1

On iPhone with Face ID and Apple Watch, double-click the side-button. On iPhone with Touch ID, double-click the home button from the lock screen. 

Step 2

Select your Peoplecare Health Insurance digital membership card from your Apple Wallet.

Step 3

Hold your device near the extra provider's reader to claim.

If you have multiple members on your card, you can get the Patient ID by tapping the More button when viewing the pass, or from the Peoplecare app. apple three dots settings button

And remember, you can use Apple Pay for any gap payments if the merchant accepts card payments.

How to use your digital card

  1. Open the most recent version of the Peoplecare Health Insurance app on your Android* device or download the app on Google Play.
  2. Select ‘Your Peoplecare Digital Card’ from the main menu.
  3. Remaining in the app, hold your device near the extras provider's reader to claim. You may be asked to show your member number to the service provider to process your claim.

Note: members who have Hospital cover only are able to download the card, however a membership card isn’t required when making hospital claims.

Frequently Asked Questions

The digital card can be used by active financial members who have:

  • Hospital and extras cover
  • Extras cover only
  • Hospital cover only (note these members are able to download the card, however a membership card isn't required when making hospital claims)

Members under the age of 16 years are not eligible for a digital card. 

Please ensure all members on the same policy have their own mobile number and/or email address linked to their membership. 

The digital membership card can be used to make extras claims with any eligible provider who utilise a HICAPS reader or equivalent. If you are unsure, ask the provider.

You can continue to use your physical card while you have the digital card on your device.

For Apple users, this information can be found on the back of your digital card which you can access by tapping the three dots on your screen.  

For Android users, this information can be found on the same screen as the digital membership card within the Peoplecare Health Insurance app, towards the bottom of the page.

Yes, your digital membership card will automatically update when you sign up for a new policy or make changes to your existing policy. 

When you sign up for a new health insurance policy or make changes to your current policy with Peoplecare, download the latest Peoplecare Health Insurance app and you’ll be able to access your digital card within 2 business days. Your digital card doesn’t have an expiry date.

If your physical card is lost or stolen, you can order a new card via the app or call us on 1800 808 690 and we’ll deactivate your membership card. Your new digital membership card automatically will update within 2 business days.

Apple
Your digital membership card on your iPhone or Apple Wallet is protected with Face ID or Touch ID and device passcode. Use Apple Find My (https://www.icloud.com/find) to mark your device as lost or remotely erase your device. Additionally, Apple users can sign into their iCloud account on the web. Android
Your digital card on your Android is protected with your login details or device passcode.

After you tap and claim with your digital card, your device will receive a confirmation. The provider will also confirm whether the claim has gone through and provide a receipt.

There could be several reasons why your claim was not approved.

  • Ensure that you are covered for the service you are claiming for within your policy.
  • Ensure that your policy is financial and up to date. 
  • Verify that your waiting periods have been completed.
  • Make sure you haven't reached your annual limit. You can check your remaining limits in the Peoplecare Health Insurance app.

Your membership number can be accessed within the ‘Membership details’ section of the Peoplecare Health Insurance app.

Your digital membership card is secure. The pass is encrypted on your device with your passcode. Your membership number is encrypted when it is securely transmitted from your device to the reader. More information can be found at: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT203027.

Add a payment card from your bank or card company to Apple Pay using the Wallet app. You can then make any gap payments using Apple Pay. More information can be found at: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201239
