Peoplecare is getting behind tomorrow’s stars by covering the cost of five places to the University of Wollongong’s Year 12 Summer Master Class program in 2020.
The Summer Master Class program, held during the summer holidays, gives students an edge in their university admissions. Students get:
• the opportunity to complete a 3-week intensive university-level course
• an early university admission interview
• a pathway to a UOW scholarship
• credit towards a UOW degree that could allow students to skip an entire university subject
The course provides students with an opportunity to get a head start in their HSC and experience life on campus, by participating in lectures, tutorials and labs to complete a university-level subject. As part of the program, students are also provided with the opportunity to attend ‘Master Classes’, which focus on skill development to assist students with the completion of the HSC and their successful transition to higher education.
The program targets high achieving students from schools across New South Wales, including those from low socioeconomic, Indigenous and rural or remote backgrounds.
For many students who are uncertain about whether to continue studies beyond the HSC level, a sponsored place in the Summer Master Class program is a deciding factor in them taking up a university degree after leaving high school.
In 2018, 91% of students who participated in the program received an offer to university.
Reviews from past Master Class students
The Summer Master Class program provided me with a platform to test my skills and abilities within a realistic business situation. This benefited me in my HSC life and gave me knowledge and skills that I know will help me in my future endeavours.

My favourite part was the comfort I felt when it came to the whole experience. It helped me to stop freaking out about how scary University would be and I am now familiar with the whole process - definitely gives me a bit of relief for when I do start Uni.
