What are hearing aids?
Hearing aids are devices that allow people with poor hearing to hear better. The device contains a microphone, amplifier, speaker and battery which helps to increase the loudness of sound. The microphone receives sound waves and turns them into electrical signals, which increases their power before sending them to your ear through a speaker.
How can I get hearing aids?
Audiologists can evaluate and diagnose hearing loss and balance disorders. They treat all patients from children to adults and can prescribe or fit hearing aids for the hearing impaired.
An individual may contact an audiologist directly or obtain a referral from a GP.
