Dr Williams retires and is succeeded as CEO by Louise Leaver
We’re excited to announce that Louise Leaver is taking over as Peoplecare Chief Executive Officer on 27 March 2023. Louise thanks Dr Melinda Williams on her successful five years as CEO and a collective fourteen years with Peoplecare. The two leaders will work together over the coming months on a smooth transition.
Louise Leaver has 13 years’ experience in private health insurance and is well-acquainted with the organisation from her current role on the Peoplecare board where she was appointed as a Director in 2016. Louise will step down from the Peoplecare board to take the CEO role.
During her time as CEO, Melinda served with distinction, leading Peoplecare through major PHI reforms, organisational change and COVID-19. They were uncertain times and Peoplecare remained sustainable and compassionate to members and employees alike throughout them.
Peoplecare remains a dedicated member-owned, not-for-profit health insurer. Melinda and Louise know each other well from their years working together and share the Peoplecare philosophy.

Louise brings significant experience as a senior executive, lawyer and company director with substantial experience as a General Counsel, risk executive and leader of community programs.
Louise’s professional qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws (Hons), Bachelor of Science (Psyc), Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice and Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance. Louise is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
